Problem is thats all to common to see stats that are said to be "placefolders" actually hit far closer to the actual design that anyone could have feared. No minmatar pilot wants to get a gimped ship and then wait 3 years for a fix. So yes, we do give it our best to get a good BS out the door that is balanced across all 4 races.
So far all we have seen is caldari get handed the ultra range sniper and gallente getting the fastest BS. Amaar is getting more of the same, mostly because the race doesn't really have a variaty in their ship lineup so any change would require a "new" bonus. lastly, as usual, we have minmatar, getting a ship that got a bonus that by tux's own admission would be so bad that they actually changed it on the caldari ships that had it.
To be honest thats not comforting at all.
The one reason I dont call it quits and just go caldari as every other clone out there, is that I hope that maybe someday we will get a little dev-love thrown our way. Sadly as more of the playerbase fly caldari, the chance of them actually getting reigned back a bit diminishes.

Just realized that even with a 7.5% tracking bonus on the maelstorm, any fitted 1400mm would still track worse than a tachyon...
I still think if they really intend to push the maelstorm as a artillery boat, and have it outranged by most ships it would be an idea to give it a tracking bonus - it would even benefit if you used autocannons.

they wont give a dual dmg bonus and deffinately not a dmg bonus to arties. Ccp nerfed Alphastrike (hehe even if they say minmatar is all about alpha strike  ) to prolong battles and prevent instant pops. The only real combination would be rof + arty dmg bonus which wont happen either since there are no "selective weapontype boni" ingame apart from the cruise bonus on bombers.
In short we will get Rof + something useless. (Best case tracking i guess since optimal is reserved for caldari, tho tracking is a gallente thing aswell.....)
Have anyone done calculations on how much a tracking bonus would influence the ship? Kinda curious what the tracking bonus would be, if they gave it that... I mean comapred to the tachyon I think we would have to hit 10% to get better tracking than that - which have higher optimal btw.... Though 10% seems awfully big.
Still if its 10% the maelstrom would become a mobile sentrygun of sorts. Not as much range as the other snipers, but better at hitting the targets (provided it actually gets better tracking that the rest of the sniper guns). Maybe do a 7.5% ROF and tracking?

Ye been airing the idea of a boost of 7.5% ROF - I do think if you give the maelstrom 7.5% ROF and tracking it would be .. more usable than the current bonusses.

Did you mean just for this ship - or for minmatar ships in generel?

How about a falloff bonus?
10% would mean arties would get to 80+ falloff and it would also be good for autocannons. So it would not bind us to one type of weapons, would be different and utilize the large fall off on all projectile weapons.
